Assessment of existing bonded display assemblies

A damaged or unsuitable bonded assembly needs a careful diagnosis. Rework is a question for assessment, not a guaranteed service.

The project perspective

Understand the assembly before deciding what is possible

Separation and rebonding can risk the display, sensor, coatings and cover glass. Feasibility depends on adhesive chemistry, cure condition, construction, ageing and the fault itself. This page offers a route to discuss an existing assembly; it does not confirm repair availability, component recovery or any rework success rate.

Identify the fault

Describe bubbles, haze, delamination, touch problems or damage. Include photographs of the affected areas.

Identify the materials

Share the display model, adhesive system if known, approximate age and history of temperature or cleaning exposure.

Review the options

A technical assessment may point towards investigation, a replacement assembly or a revised front design.

Before the first review

What to put in your brief.

A useful specification reduces uncertainty and gives the technical review a clear starting point.

  • Assembly model, age and supplier information
  • Fault photographs and operating history
  • Adhesive details, drawings and available spare components
Questions worth asking

Clear scope. Clear expectations.

Is a repair service confirmed?

No. Availability and feasibility must be established for the specific assembly before any work is agreed.

Can the existing components always be recovered?

No. Assessment may identify a risk of damage or a case where replacement is the more suitable option.

Is film-based bonding generally harder to rework than liquid adhesive?

Film-based builds are often harder to separate without damage than liquid-adhesive builds, but this depends on the specific adhesive, age and construction and needs individual assessment.
